Local Plan Update: Developing a Spatial Strategy - Rural Areas pdf icon PDF 550 KB

Contact Officer:        Jo Brombley

A key purpose of a Local Plan is to set out a sound spatial strategy to meet the needs of its area in a sustainable way. The Local Plan Update (LPU) will set the framework for future growth over the Plan period, which currently runs to 2039.

The report sets out the outcomes of the developing settlement study. This is a detailed study which sets out suitable levels of future growth for settlements, based on such factors as their relative sustainability including the level of facilities and services, housing needs, past levels of growth and infrastructure and environmental constraints.

The study’s findings have been discussed with town and parish councils through a series of meetings held over the summer and the outcomes of the meetings are outlined in the report.
