This report sets out a detailed policy on the Councils approach to the administration of the Taxi and Private Hire licensing function under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 and the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

The Interim Regulatory Services Manager (IRSM) introduced the report that set out the detailed policy on the Councils approach to the administration of the Taxi and Private Hire licensing function under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 and the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The IRSM provided a detailed summary of matters raised by the trade through the policy consultation and the Officer’s response those matters. 

 

Questions were raised regarding the cost of the training undertaken by the Blue Lamp Trust and whether it was cost effective.

 

Clarification was sought regarding cosmetic damage and historic criminal offences and the process that the Council uses to determine whether drivers were a “fit and proper person”

 

Resolved: The Committee

 

1)    Approves the Taxi and Private Hire Policy

2)    Refers the Taxi and Private Hire Policy to Council for adoption
