This page lists the meetings for Scrutiny Committee.
The Scrutiny Committee is responsible for reviewing
and scrutinising decisions made, or actions taken, in connection
with the discharge of any of the Council’s functions.
However, this does not include the review of regulatory functions
such as licensing and planning applications. The Scrutiny Committee
can monitor service performance and the implementation of
decisions, and has the ability to make reports and recommendations
to the Cabinet.
Furthermore, the committee can review and scrutinise the
performance of other public bodies that operate in the borough and
invite reports from them or request them to address the committee
about their activities and performance. More generally, the
Scrutiny Committee is able to select topics for closer enquiry in
the interest of improving the Council’s services. They can
ask questions and gather evidence from any person or body with
their consent, and exercise the right to call-in, for
reconsideration, decisions made but not yet implemented by the
Leader, Cabinet and officers.
